XML Generator - What can you do with it?

So I've got the XML generator working again and here's how it works.

You do a query just like normal - all the usual query parameters are the same.

But instead of clicking the "Submit" button, click the "GenXML" button.

You'll get the same type of display, but it looks a little different. (I did that on purpose so you know you're looking at the XML page.)

So at this point, everything is the same, pretty much.

But here's where you can do something else worthwhile - save your results.

I use Firefox, so if you use IE or Opera, your approach may be different, but here's what I do.

1. I click on View -> Page Source - At this point, you'll be looking at the XML that is being used to display your results.

2. I Select All (Ctrl-A), copy, and paste everything into a text file that I am going to name something.xml.

3. I open this XML file using Microsoft Excel. It will ask a couple of questions about applying a stylesheet (you should open without applying a style sheet), how you want to open the file (as an XML list), and Excel will tell you that it will create a schema based on the XML source data (that's good - click OK).

At this point, the data from your results will be displayed in Excel. You can now use Excel to manipulate and further filter/search your results.
